Neben den berühmten Zeltdächern des benachbarten Olympiastadions empfand die angereiste Weltpresse diese Architektur als ein Symbol der jungen, weltoffenen Bundesrepublik Deutschland, die mit der Ausrichtung der Olympiade die von Nazi-Deutschland 1936 in Berlin missbrauchten Spiele vergessen machen wollte und nun ein neues, demokratisches Leitbild als verlässlicher Partner der Weltgemeinschaft pflegte. //
